Frequently Asked Questions

Please reach us at nicole@nurturingpathways-llc.com if you cannot find an answer to your question.

Therapy is an investment on both the part of the client and the clinician. As a client, you are investing time, energy, trust, and finances into this process. As a therapist, I am investing time both in and out of session, energy, care, collaboration, experience and continual learning, into this process. My rates are set so that we can maintain the highest quality of care for my clients.

Initial Assessment: $265

Individual and Family Therapy Appointments: $165

Nurturing Pathways is an out‑of‑network provider, which means we do not participate directly with insurance plans. Many clients have out‑of‑network benefits through their insurance company, and depending on your plan, you may be reimbursed anywhere from 30–80%. You can check your benefits by calling the number on the back of your insurance card or asking specifically about out‑of‑network coverage.

We provide a monthly superbill for services, which you can submit to your insurance company for potential reimbursement. Payment for services is due at the time they are rendered.

Advantages of Working with an Out of Network Provider

  • Increased confidentiality — We do not submit your clinical information to insurance companies, allowing for greater privacy.
  • More flexibility in choosing a therapist — You can work with someone who truly fits your personality, goals, and clinical needs.
  • Personalized treatment — Your therapy is not limited by insurance‑mandated session caps or treatment requirements, giving us the freedom to tailor care to your unique situation.

The best way to figure out you benefits is to call the number on the back of your insurance card.

Questions to ask your insurance company are as follows:

  • Do I have out-of-network outpatient mental health coverage? Am I able to use these benefits for telehealth?
  • What is my out-of-network deductible? How much of my deductible has been met this year?
  • What percentage of outpatient psychotherapy sessions are covered per session?
  • How much will I be reimbursed for a 60 minute initial evaluation (CPT Code: 90791) and 60 minute ongoing individual therapy 60 minute session (CPT Code: 90837)?
  • How do I submit claim forms for reimbursement?
  • How long does it take for me to receive reimbursement?

I currently offer individual and family family therapy sessions

I am only seeing clients virtually at this time.

I provide therapy to children, adolescents, teens, and young adults ages 8 - 25

I am licensed in Virginia, Maryland, Colorado, and Missouri

I provide mental health therapy for people experiencing anxiety, depression, ADHD, Autism, OCD, oppositional diffident disorder (we don’t use this term), trauma and PTSD, borderline personality disorder, difficulties with self-harm or suicidal ideation, learning disorders, and more. I recognize that medical model language (diagnosis) does not capture the entirety of a person’s experience and practice from a neurodivergent affirming lens. We respect our client’s right to self-diagnosis and choice to use diagnosis language or not.

We accept all major credit cards and HSA cards as forms of payment. Payment is done through a convenient and secure online platform. Payment is due in full at time of service.

To ensure a seamless therapy experience, we kindly request that clients provide a valid credit card on file during the initial session. Your card information will be securely encrypted, and it will only be charged for appointment payment or in the event of a missed appointment or late cancellation as outlined in the cancellation policy.

If you are unable to attend a session, please make sure you cancel at least 24 hours beforehand to avoid late cancelation or no-show fees. If you cancel with less than 24 hours' notice, or you do not show up for your scheduled appointment, and you have not notified me at least 24 hours in advance, you will be required to pay the half the cost of the session.  We understand that life happens, we get sick, our kids get sick, and there are emergencies.
